The AIS Book Prize

The AIS Book Prize for Ancient Iranian Studies will be awarded by the Association for Iranian Studies at its biennial conference in Mexico City, Spain Aug. 12-15, 2024. The goal of this award is to celebrate scholarly books in the field of Ancient Iranian studies and related fields published since 2022. This award is funded by AIS in honor of the late Dr. Ehsan Yarshater.

The deadline to send your nominations to the committee is May 15, 2024.

For full consideration we ask that nominators inform the presses or authors and ask them to submit copies of nominated books in digital format to the committee chair for review

  • Awardee: Arash Zeini for his book Zoroastrian scholasticism in late antiquity: The Pahlavi version of the Yasna Haptaŋhāiti( Edinburgh University Press)
  • Honorable Mentions: Domenico Agostini and Samuel Thrope for their translation of The Bundahišn The Zoroastrian Book of Creation (Oxford University Press)
