Academic Bio: 
Latifeh Hagigi received her BS in Iran in Economics and Political Science, and both her MA and PhD in Iranian Studies in Middle East Studies History of the Qajar era from University of Utah. Since 1988, as a lecturer in the Iranian Studies Program at UCLA, she has taught Elementary, Accelerated Elementary for heritage learners, and Intermediate Persian. This year (March 2010) she was nominated by the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures for the Distinguished Teaching Award. She has been involved with various projects on Persian curriculum development, and has developed a series of cumulative textbooks titled *Proficiency in Persian*, in 4 vols. (with DVDs and CDs) co-authored with Mehdi Marashi.
